In 1993 Ducati introduced the first model of the famous naked motorcycle named Monster equipped with a 900 cm³ V-90° 2-cylinder engine, featuring the iconic desmodromic valvetrain system. In 1994 the model-ragne was enlarged with the indrocuction of both 400 cm³ and 600 cm³ versions. The latter, produced up to 2001, was the best seller version. All series featured an extensive use of aluminium alloy with a powertrain arrangement composed of engine and gearbox integrated in the same case.
